I am using images of organs torn from the human body.
I am interested in why we often apply a thinking or moral quality to them.
We have feelings in our guts. We have a good or bad eye, big or black heart and so on. Why? We push such responsibility on to our/these magical pieces of flesh. What is the difference between an evil or an angelic heart? Is it uglier? Does it smell worse?
I want to achieve a visual connection with religious icons, that is why I use wooden panels and real gold. I want them to be like objects not just pictures, small enough to be carried around, hung or exhibited under glass like fossils.
Precious organs treated with devotion.
